Due to the nature of the surfaces being projected upon, tests were conducted to ascertain the response to projected light. The surface of the facade is made of 4 distinct materials: sandstone, perforated steel, perspex and zinc. Each responds differently to projected light. As a result, the projections will differ to the designs submitted. The zinc and perforated steel surfaces have the best response, whereas the sandstone responds predominately to red colours. The perspex surfaces, of which there is little on the facade, has the poorest response and is dependant upon the material behind the perspex.
